YOU MAY BE LIVING IN A SMALL HOUSE, OR  BE SAVING FOR THE WONDERFUL DAY THAT YOU GET TO PURCHASE A BIGGER HOUSE.WE ALSO WANT YOU TO LOVE YOUR SMALL-SPACE-LIFE IN THE MEANTIME! IF THIS IS YOU THEN READ BELOW, WE THINK YOU'LL FIND THESE IDEAS USEFUL!

Light Colours Make a space feel bigger:

- While some of the passing trends may be accent walls with darker shades such as Grey, Forest Green, or even Black, a small space will look a lot smaller if it is darkened. Consider painting your walls White, Off-White, light Pastel, light Brown/Beige, and other colours on the lighter end of the spectrum.

- The Benefits: A light coloured room, when decorated optimally, can be much more warm and inviting than a room with darker colours. Additionally, Studies show that lighter coloured walls have a positive impact on mood and well-being. Soft, quiet shades can promote calmness and relaxation.

Second of all:

- Windows, windows, and more windows! Did you know that Manitobans can experience around 2,300 hours of sunlight annually? Don't be afraid to open your blinds and let the sun shine in! Increased daylight also can improve your mood and well-being, just as light coloured walls do. While taking out a small window to replace it with a bigger picture window can be a lot of work, and even at times expensive, if you have this in your budget, we highly recommend it! Open up those blinds, part the curtains, and give those windows a good cleaning!

third:

- Do you have any mirrors? Because now is the time to own more mirrors than you can imagine. Now that you have light coloured walls, and clean windows letting the bright sunlight in, it's time to reflect that light around your house! You're in luck, too, because mirrors are on trend! At just about every home decor and home furniture store, you can find big, beautiful mirrors. Round, Circle, Square, Black, Gold, Wood, or just about anything else you can think of. Positioning these mirrors throughout your house on walls opposite your windows can double the amount of light you bring into your home, making your house appear much larger.

fourth:

- Now for the big question; Do you have the proper furniture for a small space? There are so many creative ways to save space nowadays, that it's almost more convenient to live in tight quarters! Look up stores in your area that supply a great selection of organizational and space efficient furniture. You may want to temporarily replace your kitchen table with some bar stools and an island that includes more cupboard & countertop space. Or maybe, you have a couch that takes up the whole living room. Shopping at places that specialize in maximizing small space potential can help you explore your many options.

lastly:

- Minimalism. While this idea is trendy, it is also extremely practical if you're making the most of your small house. Whether big or small, your home is best presented if, that's right - we can actually see it. Over decorating can be so easily done when we collect things that are "on sale" or "match". The more items we are attached to, the more cluttered our home becomes. The less we buy, the less we waste, and advance in saving. Which means you will be one step closer to buying your perfect home! Give that clean, open, brighter look with only the necessities to accent your home!

I hope this blog has helped you so that now, you are ready to make some positive adjustments to your temporary living space!
